BLACK LIVES MATTER!

PSO is a peer support community whose staff and members have lived experience with mental health and/or substance use. As an organization we recognize that racism and anti-Black racism continue to exist both in Canada and globally. Lived experience of racism, discrimination and injustice have negative impacts on the mental health of Black people and People of Colour, including racialized members of PSO.

As an organization working to support those with mental health and/or substance use struggles, we endeavor to stand in solidarity with Black and racialized community members and with the broader Black Lives Matter movement. We recognize that anti-racism work is an ongoing process and not a destination. We pledge to educate our staff and members in anti-racism and anti-oppression. In alignment with our peer support values, we commit to listening to, and learning from, those who have lived experience with racism. Our Black and racialized members are a valued part of our PSO community and we would like to engage and amplify their voices in our ongoing work.
